What is Knowledge & Skills?

What Knowledge & Skills management covers and how it fits with the rest of Fabriq.

Written by Charlie Durand

Knowledge & Skills management lets you manage your standards and your operators' skills in Fabriq. It has two parts: Knowledge and Skills.

ℹ️ Knowledge & Skills is a separate layer built on top of the Daily Management System. It has its own pricing. Contact your Customer Success Manager to know more.

How it fits into Fabriq: Detect, Act, Learn

Fabriq supports your continuous improvement loop in three steps:

  • 🔍 Detect: spot deviations through your routines, KPIs and events.

  • 🛠️ Act: solve them with tickets and problem-solving processes.

  • 🎓 Learn: capture what was learned and make sure it is applied by the right people. This is what Knowledge & Skills does.

Without the Learn step, a solved problem often stays in a ticket, in someone's head or in a local file, and the same deviation can happen again, on the same line or on another site. Learn closes the loop: the solution becomes a standard, and operators are trained on it.

📚 Knowledge

Turn what you learn on the shop floor into approved standards (work instructions, One Point Lessons, Safety Flashes, lessons learned…), share them with the right teams, and track who has read them.

🎓 Skills

Keep track of which skills each operator has, at which level and until when. Define the skills required on each workstation and see who is competent to work there.

You don't need to set everything up on day one. Start with one site and a few critical skills or documents, then extend. Your Customer Success Manager can help you choose where to start.
