The skills matrix is a table with your operators in rows and your skills in columns. Each cell shows whether an operator has a skill, at which level, and whether it is about to expire.
It is the digital version of the skills (or versatility) matrix that many teams keep in Excel or on a board.
Who can access the skills matrix?
Organization admins, site admins, team admins and team coordinators can create skills matrix views with the information from the sites they belong to.
Your matrix is personal
The first time you open the skills matrix, you choose which skills and which operators to display. This choice is saved for you only: it does not change what other users see. A team leader can follow their own operators, while a quality manager follows a few critical skills across the whole site.
Set up your matrix step by step
Step 1: Start the setup
Open the skills matrix and click "Create my skills matrix now".
If no skill exists yet on your sites, you are invited to create one first. See: Create a skill.
Step 2: Choose a site
Select the site you want to follow. The skills and operators you can choose from depend on this site. If you belong to only one site, it is selected automatically.
Step 3: Select skills
Select the skills you want to display. You can search by name. Your selection appears in the panel on the right.
Step 4: Select operators
Select the operators you want to display. You can search by name and filter by team or by zone.
Step 5: Save
Save your selection: your matrix is displayed.
Read the matrix
The header
At the top of the matrix, you see the number of operators and skills displayed, as well as the number of skills that are expiring soon or expired.
The cells
Each cell shows the status of one skill for one operator:
Certified skill: the operator holds the certification
On a scale skill: the level reached by the operator
Not assessed: the operator has never been assessed on this skill. Click "Assign" to record an assessment.
A badge shows skills that are expiring soon or have expired. The legend next to the matrix reminds you what each symbol means.
Change your selection
Click "Edit skills matrix" to add or remove skills and operators at any time.
💡 Keep your matrix focused. A matrix with your own team and the skills that matter for your workstations is easier to read and to use in a daily meeting than one with every skill of the site.
Next step: record your operators' skills
→ Read next: Assign, update or remove a skill.
