🎯 Create a Routine Scope (v2)

Capture the part, serial, work order, zone, equipment or people a routine covers, filled in when it starts and shown on the report.

What a Scope captures

A routine's Scope is a set of fields the operator fills in when starting the routine, on a dedicated Context step. It records what the instance covers, so each report is retrievable by what it was about.

It combines entity fields (picked from your team's existing lists) with free-text identifier fields you can scan. Adding a Scope doesn't change the questions asked.

Scope fields

Each field type can be added once, and every field is required. Entity and user options come from the team running the routine. Identifiers accept any typed or scanned value. Fields always appear in this order:

Entities, picked from your team's existing lists:

  • Zone: the area the run covers (single select).

  • Participants: everyone accountable for the run (multi-select, 1 to 10 people).

  • Auditee: the person being audited (single select).

  • Equipment: the asset or machine (single select).

  • Product: the product (single select).

Identifiers, free text and scan-friendly: Type the value, or select Scan to read a barcode or QR code into the field.
Any value is accepted, and it stays editable after a scan.

1. Add Scope fields to a routine

In your routine, open the General tab and find the Scope section.

  1. Select Add a field.

  2. Choose a field type (an Identifier or an Entity).

  3. Add as many fields as you need. Each row shows its type, with a delete icon to remove it.

  4. Select Publish to apply the Scope to new instances.

2. Fill in the Scope when starting the routine

  1. Start the routine. When it has at least one Scope field, a full-page Context step opens first.

  2. Fill in each field. For an identifier, type the value, or select Scan to read a barcode or QR code into it.

  3. Start stays disabled until every field is filled. Select it to begin.

Once started, the Scope values are locked for that run. Any ticket raised during the run inherits the Scope: Zone, Equipment and Product become ticket properties, and the identifiers appear in the ticket description.

3. Find the Scope on the report

The instance report shows a Scope section listing each field and its value. The PDF export includes it.
