Overview
Some customers may experience issues when embedding internal or intranet web pages inside Fabriq.
Instead of the embedded content, the browser may display a security warning or a blank area.
This behavior is caused by recent security changes in modern browsers, not by a Fabriq configuration change.
How to recognize the issue
You may be affected if you see one of the following:
A browser popup asking whether Fabriq is allowed to connect to devices or servers on your local network
An error message stating that the connection is blocked because it was initiated by a public page
Embedded intranet content that previously worked and suddenly no longer loads
Different behavior depending on the user, browser, or network
Why this happens
Recent versions of Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge enforce a security mechanism called Private / Local Network Access.
Browsers now block, by default, public web applications (such as SaaS tools) from embedding or loading internal or intranet URLs.
This change:
is enforced by the browser,
applies automatically after browser updates,
previously allowed this type of embedding.
Affected browser versions
This behavior has been observed starting from:
Microsoft Edge version
143.0.3650.66Google Chrome version
142
Future browser versions are expected to enforce this more broadly.
Resolution steps
Step 1: Check if a permission was previously denied
After a recent browser update, Chrome or Edge may have displayed a prompt asking whether Fabriq can access your local network.
If Block was selected, embedded intranet content will not load.
If you are unsure, continue to Step 2.
Step 2: Enable local network access for Fabriq
Open the Fabriq page where the embedded content appears
Click the lock icon (🔒) in the browser address bar
Open Site settings
Locate Local network access
Set it to Allow
Reload the page
If the embedded content loads correctly after reloading, the issue is resolved.
Step 3: If the setting is unavailable or greyed out
If Local network access cannot be modified and appears disabled, your browser is likely managed by corporate IT policies.
In this case:
the permission cannot be changed by the user,
access is controlled centrally by your organization.
Please contact your IT or security team and share this article with them so they can review the applicable browser policies.
Important notes
This is not a Fabriq bug
This is not an iframe implementation issue
No recent change in Fabriq is required to trigger this behavior
The impact may vary depending on browser version, enterprise policies, and network or VPN usage
